New Minimum Wages

On 14th May 2018, the Myanmar National Committee of Minimum Wage (“Committee”) issued the Notification No. 2/2018 (“Notification”) to repeal and replace its Notification No. 2/2015 dated 28th August 2015 to increase the minimum wages for employments in Myanmar.

According to the Notification, effective from 14th May 2018, the minimum wages of MMK450 per hour and MMK3,600 per day (8 working hours) will be increased to MMK600 per hour and MMK4,800 per day for all employees in Myanmar regardless of their work locations or their types of businesses.

However, the new minimum wages do not apply to a business having less than 10 employees and a family owned business.
