Statistics of FBLs Granted to “Foreigners” for FDI in Thailand

The Department of Business Development of the Ministry of Commerce (“MOC”) announced recently that in September 2021 the Foreign Business Commission (“FBC”) granted FBLs (foreign business licenses) to 26 foreign companies to operate restricted businesses with investment capital of THB559 million.  These companies are mainly from Japan, Singapore and South Korea doing businesses in software and application services related to medical procedures, platforms for transportation booking services, accounting and legal services provided to affiliated companies, wholesales, etc.

The MOC also reported that from January 2021 to September 2021, the FBC granted 161 FBLs to foreign companies with the total investment value of THB9.94 billion. Their approved businesses include services related to high-speed train projects, design and development of digital platforms for insurance industry, engineering design services for international distribution centers and smart warehouses.
