Tan & Partners LLC (Singapore) hosted a conference on “The Best Practices for Hiring and Terminating Employees for CEOs and HR Managers” at Dusit Thani Bangkok.

The conference consisted of two panel sessions and a coffee break, and ran for a half a day.  It was well attended by over 40 CEOs and HR managers of multinational conglomerates operating in the ASEAN and APAC regions.  In a fire-side-chat style, the four employment law expert panelists from the host firms discussed many key legal challenges faced by multinational employers in hiring, managing and terminating employees.  The panelists and the moderator (Kowit Somwaiya) shared practical observations, comments and solutions to the issues discussed.  The participants actively participated in the Q&A part of each session.

The key issues discussed included the legal requirements and risks relating to employment contracts, probation periods, pre-employment screening, work rules and policies, termination with and without cause, mutual separation arrangements, unfair dismissal risks and dispute-management strategies.  For a summary of the questions and answers discussed at the conference, please click here.
